Dallas, TX Engine Swap??????

I live in Dallas TX....and i have to deal with inspection. Right now I have a 305 TBI on my 92 RS.....in about a year I think I'll be needing a new engine (have around 99,000 miles on it....but its still kicking nicely) Anyways.....what are my options as far as engine swaps that will still pass inspection? I want a 350 or 383....TPI, SuperRam, or Miniram....and 300+ HP. I really hope I dont have to put a V6 or a used engine in there....and Im not sure I want to rebuild my current one. Thanks a lot

A 350 TPI as long as it is from the same year car or newer is a legal swap as a 350 was a factory option on a 92 Camaro, a mini ram is definatly a no no as far as the smog police are concerned, super ram???? if it has an EO number it's legal. Also bear in mind that all the emmissions equipment will have to be hooked up and working, and any performance parts(headers, ignition, etc,) will have to have a CARB EO number for them to be legal. You might have to go to a referee station to get the final ok for the swap, another idea is to talk to the people at the inspection station and see what info they might be able to give you regarding emmissions legal engine swaps, if they don't know get a number u can call to talk to the government folks that run the inspections, and set the rules

hey mult68, when you say inspection do you just mean the state inspection or an exhaust gas inspection? I live south of houston and I swapped in an LT1 with no emmissions equipment, and it passed the state inspection no prob.
