thinkin ZZ4 but have ??
Hey everyone,
I'm leaning towards the ZZ4 set up for my 82. Here is a list of add ons I have and wonder if their will be any hangups - 670 duel feed Holley carb, MSD ignition/dist., Hooker (part #2460) headers, Will the headers bolt up fine with no probs? I also have some AFR 190s that will find their way on the motor. Are these engines as reliable and great as they seem to be? What is the biggest probs that people seem to have. How about upgrades to a bigger cam and so forth. Thanks guys for the help and advice.

I have been running a ZZ4TPI combo for about 30k miles now. It has developed a slight oil leak from the pan and thats it. No other problems to report. Great power, even with TPI. I will eventually install the LT4 Hot Cam and 1.6rr's. It's nice having a new engine in the car and me rebuilding my old L98 motor was not an option. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are gonna swap the heads, distributor etc, you may want to get the short block instead and save some money.

Thanks Rob P!!
So your happy with it, cool. How about all around pulling power like stop light to stop light? Will my Hooker headers work with the heads...are the heads angle plugged? Will these headers work with angles?

Cmon guys, please help me out. I probably hold onto the 190 AFRs until the warranty runs out on the ZZ4. But doesn't the ZZ4 come with angle plugs and if so will my Hooker headers work?

If you want to, you can buy just the ZZ4 short block. Part number 12561723. That way you can retain your AFR heads if you want to. The AFR's are probably superior to the vette heads on the ZZ4.
