ZZ4 long block VS base 350 HO engine
The zz4 block has 355hp, 405tq
compression ration.10:1
The base 350 has 330hp, 380tq
compression ratio 9:1:1
I see that the zz4 has its advantages over another i know that the zz4 has more forged steel but how much do i really need that.
I dont really want to go all out but i just want a decent car that is decent in my point of view. there is about a $1300 between them and is the few things are different internally but which one gives most bang for the buck.

The HO is best bang for buck. The zz4 is lighter because of the heads. The zz4 also comes with a complete roller cam setup. For less than the zz4 I did my whole swap with the HO. $3000 and I'm very happy with the results. The HO also has better designed heads, at least with intake shape and flow. They flow better under 3000rpm with a 350 than the aluminum vette heads (zz4). The HO is the same block, one piece rear seal and it's ready for a stock roller cam setup. The HO has normal cast pistons which is a bad thing if you're going to do any poweradder. Personally I don't think I'll do anything more than 100hp shot of N2o. If you plan on doing more then it's a problem. I don't think the zz4 is worth it unless you don't plan on ever touching the thing. It's a great setup but the HO can be had and built to have more power for less! Jim Pace installed a cam and used an air gap (same as RPM) which boasted hp 50 and torque by 25! They didn't even go with a roller cam setup. That was also used with a 650cfm carb. If you're looking to spend the least for the most then go with the HO, if you have a nice budget to work with, go with the zz4.
