My new motor.. what do you think???

Well I spun a bearing on the 305 so im not even going to waste time and money on that so im replacing it with this, http://www.goautocenter.com/300hp_tpi_1987-89.htm Im going to keep the intake stock for now, but the plenum has already been ported, and im putting in jet hot coated edlebrock headers when the motor gets dropped in. Chris at grand auto in s.i. is doing the swap for me so everything should go well. What else needs to be changed except for knock sensor??....im keeping the stock 19 injectors and stock chip so I hope everything will go well. Later

i think i like it! with the serpinitine setup of yours, i'd slap on an ati blower and you'd be good for at least 450 hp! thanks for turning me onto that motor. i'm looking into replacing my junky 350 in the near future.
a word of caution- if you're still considering other opts, don't consider a jasper motor- they are junk. when i wasted my 305, i had a jasper class 1 350 installed. my car's in the shop now waiting on a new head because the gasket self-destructed and cracked my head. also, there is a high rpm detonation that still has to be addressed. everything else works fine, though.
your swap should be easy. do change the knock sensor. also, if i had it to do over, i would do all the usual (bigger injectors, afpr, ignition upgrade, etc.) during the swap, instead of afterwards. i owuld get the prom prgrammed too in order to realize all the benefits of the new motor. however, all that can be delayed and your car will still run (a lot) better. good luck!

I checked into this motor when I was planning my 350 swap. It is basically an LO5 Crate caprice engine with an after market cam (I forget which one). I called them several times and asked them how they got their 300 hp rating and it comes from a "computer program". I doubt very much
that the LO5 with its swirlport heads will get close to 300 HP. Still, its a good cheap engine for a swap and with the cam they use
you might get 250hp out of it (the LO5 is rated at approx 220HP stock).
I had a buddy of mine check out their shop in Dallas and he thought they were ok. You got to send them a Certified check up front
and then they send you the motor. If that is your budget, then its probably a good deal. If ya got more for a better set of heads, then thats the way to go........bob
