just installed a crate 350 in place of my 305. the 305 is an 86 with computer controlled carb. i also put on new chevy valve covers, there were two holes in them one for oil and i put a breather in the other, they didn't have a hole for PCV so i didnt install one. now i hear that i need one because there is a lot of pressure building up in the crankcase. do i need the PCV valve or not?
thanks

You should have a PCV valve. The carb calibration assumes it's there. The pressure probably isn't being properly vented with just a breather cap (although I doubt it's building up "a lot of pressure").

I would suggest using the round hole for a PCV valve, and a breather cap for the oil fill. Or, go back to the stock covers.
