engine swap opinion needed

Ok I was looking into getting my 305 rebuilt by the local machine shop. The price would be $1100 this includes: new crank, cam, pistons, rods, vavles, springs, rockers. vertually everything is new except the block which gets bored 30over. the externals get cleaned and checked for proper working order. Now the guy asked why a 305? I couldnt come up with a good answer so he said how about a 350,for only 100bucks more. the 350 is almost done and all they would have to do is switch my carb, dist, and other misc. stuff. This will give me lots more torgue and horse power. Gee now that i have written this all out its a no brainer but tell me what you think anyway. Oh by the way it is going in my 1984 Trans Am with a five speed.

Youre right, its a no-brainer. This is why I keep suggesting 350's... to no avail most of the time. $1100 is pretty cheap, what sorta parts is he using in it?

Its a local machine shop. most of the stuff comes directly from GM or Ford or he builds the stuff right there in the shop. He took me for a tour to show me all the stuff, really nice guy.
