305

i just pulled out my 305 i am going to be putting in a zz4 350 soon but will be a month or 2 b4 i get it and i may have to rip it down and put it back together. i decided to put in some new main and rod bearings in the 305 and run it till i get the 350 the way id like it.i just spent the last few hrs pulling it apart and i see the crankshaft is a summit crank and the cam is a compucam 2032 this is the first time i have ever had the bottom end apart i got on the summit website to see if i could get some info on the crank and the only 305 crank i see is a eagle crank all of the summit cranks are for a 350 so I'm lost i know a 350 crank can fit into a 305 but the balance would be off maybe they just don't make a crank for a 305 no longer?

ps i know that the stock 305 carb car was only what 160 or 170 hp if you could quess with the after market crank and cam with a Edelbrock Performer intake manifold Edelbrock Performer carburetor Edelbrock shorty headers i know that the head have had work done to them but what i dont know. what do you think the ballpark hp is with this set up mayb 200hp?

Any evidence of the crank having been rebalanced?

The Performer carb didn't help power any (reduced it if anything), but rated the same as the 160 stock LG4 HP, without knowing exactly what was done to the heads, probably in the 220 HP range.

May or may not. It has less flow capacity than the q-jet. But, there is no way you'll gain HP by going to an Edelbrock (assuming both are operating properly).

i got the car for free and was in pieces and it had no carb thats why i got the edelbrock. i don't like Holley to much but will be putting a 750 on the zz4. just for the fun of it i did my set up on the cam quest program its saying I'm at 260 to 270 hp don't think its right but it just seems way to fast for a 305. i have a Friend with a 89 iroc with a 350 tpi and my car with the 305 just eats it alive to this Day he thinks I'm lying about it being a 305 lol but i did put in a shift kit and THINK it has a gear in it but not sure need to look

Previous configuration of Berlinetta #1: '86 LG4 shortblock, Crane 2050 Compucam (similar specs to the 2032, except flat tappet), ZZ3 intake, ported World Products SR Torquer 305 heads, Hooker 2055HKR headers & 3" cat-back. DD said 360 GFWHP, but I never believed it. ET/MPH calcs said more like 255. With the current 350 shortblock w/ZZ4 cam, everything else the same, a bit over 300 HP (over a second quicker).

If you're keeping up with an L98 car, you must be doing alright, or he's got problems.

Re: 305

it don't just keep up its smokes his iroc and this kid is a race car driver and a master mechanic so I'm sure his car is running right but is 100% stock. if you look at my pics the 2 race cars siting next to my camaro are his i just did all the welding on them. i think i just have a big gear in the rear end you can have one hell of a engine and have a slow *** car with a small gear not sure what gear came in the iroc's
