old question revisited
My '88 firebird currently has a 2.8 in it. I am in the desighn and decision process of building a blown 406 fastburn/Miniram combo. I was wondering if anybody could give me some pointers about the swap itself. I am doing this because a year ago I knew butt-nothing about cars, and wanted to learn. My education has been piecemeil at best, and there are gaps in what should be obvious knowledge.
"Fastburn/Miniram combo" negative knowledge at this time! I am like you. Before I got involved with this project (2.8 to V8) I knew nothing about cars. Well that's not right I knew to keep gas in the puppy and to change the oil every 3K miles.
If you are going to do it right., it is a big task requiring deep pockets and fortitude.
There are lots of opinion out., personally, I am glad I am doing it... I learn something new everyday.
The best solution IMHO is to start with a 3rd gen that has a V8 and work from there.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!
