need help with 82 firebird swap ideas
in my topic yesterday I mistakenly said ram air 350 when I meant ram jet 350 which gm performance says is a good match for 76 and newer carburated vehicles such as mine. I'd like to put it with a 4L60e automatic tranny. I've had my firebird for many years now and would like this to be a great project car even if it costs alot and is a pain in the but. I'd even like to take it to the drag strip occasionally. need some ideas.
how strict is your state on swaps? I'd go ponitac 455 with edelbrock heads

I think you'd better take another look at the brochure. It says "...the Ram Jet 350 also makes it easy to have electronic fuel injection on any 1975 or OLDER vehicle originally equipped with a carburetor." [emphasis added]

You own the lightest of the third gens. Any power is good. For the same money as a RJ 350, by the time you got done with the EFI, you could get a Fast Burn 385, a "HOT" cam kit (430 hp), and plop a Demon on top. Are you set on EFI?

If you want a 4L60E without the LT1 or LS1 you will need an aftermarket computer to control the shifting. They are available through GM.
If you want something really unique you may want to consider an LT1, LT4, or LS1 swap. Any of these engines accept mods well and offer several options for stroking if you have the funds.
