2.8 to 305 swap problems!!

I have put a 305 (carbed) in a '88 camaro that was a 2.8 and everything is O.K. except it wants to die once I hit about 45 M.P.H.
It cuts out and sometimes dies and wont start back for a min or two,I have replaced the dist. fuel pump, fuel lines, pick up in the tank, carb, and have checked the timing several times,,but it seems to not be getting gas,,,Help!!Should I try an electric pump?I am out of ideas on this one!

Help!!Should I try an electric pump?

What type of pump do you have now? What is it PSI rating? What was wrong with the 2.8 fuel pump? Are you pulling any codes?

Sorry, I know that's not help, but., I will try to help if you can answer those questions!

The "dies and won't start back for a minute or two" part doesn't sound much like a fuel problem. But, to know for sure, you have to have some evidence of fuel or lack of fuel. When it has quit on you, have you jumped right out, pulled the air cleaner off, and checked for a shot of gas from the accelerator pump? You should also rig up a pressure gage so you can check the running pressure and for any fluctuations.

My guess would be that you'll find all that in order, and will need to look elsewhere. What kind ignition do you have? I'd suspect something is weak, and you're getting an open with heat, either in the coil or in the pickup circuit.
