help with the engine
I am getting ready to put a new chevy 350 long block with around 400HP in my 1989 RS, that originally had a 305. and i was wondering if i would nead any other parts so it wont overwork or tear up the rest of the parts. It is quite a big difference in horse power.

Transmission: 4L80E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
Subframe connectors are a good idea. Poly suspension bushings and boxed or tube LCA's & panhard bar.
Check the tech articles for diff upgrades.
You didn't say what tranny you have. If 5-spd, it probably can't handle it if you plan on using more than 50% of those ponies. If automatic, check for TH700 upgrade posts on the transmission/drivetrain forum.

Idles smooth @ 600 RPM in D. Best 15.02/95.06 @ 5800' Bandimere (corrected 13.93/102.4 @ sea level).
