Was my engine really replaced?

Is there a way to verify the previous owners claim that the engine was repalced 20K ago? the only numbers I could find on the engine are K1193560(indented) behind the Alternator and 627 (cast markings) on the both sides of the Bell Housing.

It is a 1985 Iroc 305 TPI LB9 engine.

On the drivers side rear behind the head there is a casting number that includes the date of production. If you can read and research this you will know. However, if they rebuilt the engine you are out of luck. Hope this helps.
