I am buying a 86 trans am that someone has destroyed the motor =) It has tpi of course with a 700 auto tranny my question is can i get any 350 and it will mount in there fine or do i need a special type?? and also would it be better to go with the tpi or just scrap the injection and go with a carb setup anyways thanx for your help!!

All 350's, 305's, and 400's small block of course have the same outside dimensions so that is no problem. What you intend to do with your car will decide what to do with the fuel system. If, like myself you want a race car, the only options are a carb or an aftermarket fuel injection setup. You can always get a custom chip burnt for a mild 350. There are only two differences on the old and new style blocks externally; a one piece rear seal which requires a differnent flywheel and centerbolt heads which use different valve covers and intake. Hope this clears things up.
