i have a LG4 305 85 Camaro z28. i am looking at a gmgoodwrench 350 engine rated at "285 hp". how much hp does this engine REALLy make with all the stock 305 stuff up to it? then what if with exhaust (headers, cat, flowmaster), rejet the carb, edelbrock manifold, k&n open element, will i reach that 285 hp or should i not get that engine and save up for a 350 HO?

 

I would recomend going to a shop that builds motors. Gm charges way to much for their engines. I dropped in a .030 over 350 thats around 375 horse and the motor cost me $1800 with the block included. i used my own valve covers,manifold and 600 carb(both edelbrock) and the thing RIPS. you will have to price around and ask about warrenties. i got a 12 month/12,000 warrenty. Screw paying 2000-3500 for a gm motor. Its not worth the money in my opinion. Hope this helps

I plan on building my own ZZ4 type motor.It will cost less plus i can build mine with the hot cam performer rpm airgap and better heads for about half the cost of a gm crate engine.
