Need advice!!! It's time for me to decide....

I have been debating myself quite some time on the subject of swapping a new motor into my 92 RS L03.

I am 20 years old, I make about 30k a year, and I still live with my dad for now. I have a major need for speed (i'm sure that's not unheard of around here!) The car is almost paid off, just 2 more payments and I'm done.

My car just does not have enough *****. I want a car that can beat most cars on the street. This thing has enough trouble keeping up with 4 door v6 cars! I love my car, but I have no mechanical knowledge of working on it. Hell I had a time just installing an open element air cleaner.

I bought my car back when I was in school, that's why I didn't get a z28. I figured that I would drive the RS for a while and trade it for a Z when I had the money.

Well, now I have the money, but I also have to think about getting my own place soon. So I'm not so sure if I want to pay rent somewhere, plus a big car payment and alot higher insurance than I'm paying now.

Then when I consider keeping my car and doing a motor swap... I will probably spend alot of money there too.. I figure 3k for the motor, (probably running carb) another $1,500 for a built 700r4, installation, etc. Then when all is said and done, I'll probably have spent in the neighborhood of 6k to 7k and I'll still have a 92 RS with a dented door and no air conditioner.

Sorry for the ranting, but I really need to make a decision soon and commit to something or I'll be slow forever! : )

I appreciate any advice/opinions.

This is what I would do. Dump the RS and go search for an 87-92 Z or IROC,(try here)http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/results.jtmpl?model=CAM&start_year=1987&end_year=1992&max_price=&distance=200&certified=n&make=CHEV&address=67005&search_type=used&x=102&y=1 8 there are several that sound pretty nice, and they have A/C (bet that sucked over the past month of 100+ temps), and many have the 350 too (costs less to mod than the 305), then take the money you would've sunk into the RS and put it into the 350, you'll be happier with the performance. You might not beat everything on the street, but hey there is always someone faster.
