swapping TPI to computer-less carb......

ok,got the tired 305 TPI out of the car. Getting everything ready to install 355 w/ carb. This will be a computer-delete swap. I am using a comp 9000 dist.,edel. carb and intake, and "under-chassis" headers. I have a mallory fuel-pressure regulator mounted on the engine. everything else is reg. SBC stuff. Can anyone help me with wiring? Any tips on ign. wiring, gauge wiring, tach. wiring, fuel pump wiring(remember-this is a TPI car),etc.etc.
Any pointers on this swap will be helpful
Thanks guys!

O.K. since I have the same problem, but some answers here it is. Take the pink wire from the coil and hook it to your current coil. At the fuel tank take the power wire and hook it to ignition switch power. Wire fans either direct or hot wire to fans and ground to coolant temp. switch. I tell you what just email me with any questions and I'll help you. I am a mechanic and I have done this swap before. My address is jamesbern@hotmail.com

As a safety issue, I would hook up the fuel pump through an oil pressure switch (like the factory TPI setup) so that the pump doesnt run if the engine isnt, like in the event of a car accident.
An inertia switch is best, but those are quite a bit more costly.

I have some of the same questions. I know I have to bypass the VATS. But I don't want to have to rewire my fuel pump. Is there an easier way? I don't know which relays on the firewall are for the fans, and which is for the pump.I read the tech article, but it didn't answer all my questions. I did a search and they mostly spoke about the VATS, and the pump, and how to wire around the oil pressure switch. I don't want to run a mech. oil gauge either. Can anyone please help. I am about to pull the TPI engine in about 2-3 days. I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks,

on the driver side the fans solenoid switch is the one on the right side(nearest to fender) and it's smaller than the fuel pump relay.

hope this help, also if you cannot figure out how to plug your fans, and you want to plug them on the ignition without draining the power from your fuse box do it like this ..

take the fan wires (black and brown) hook the black one to the battery, thans take the brown wire and plug it on the actual fan relay red wire, than plug the fan relay black wire and hook it up to the chassis ground. the little green/white wire is acutally plug into the ignition so this will turn your fans when the car is running.

hope this helps, it worked for me .
