Engine removal with convertor attached??
Engine removal with convertor attached??
I am getting ready to remove a seized 305 engine from a 92 Trans AM. The crank will not turn at all to allow me to remove the flexplate to convertor bolts. Can I pull the engine with the convertor attached while the tranny is still in place? Is there enough clearance to move the engine forward enough to clear the shaft?? Should I just pull them together and separate them outside the car. I was originally trying to leave the trans in.
Thanks

You'll probably have to pull the rad anyway. Make sure the AC condensor is moved also. For added clearance pull the water pump and whatever accessories are on the front of the engine. After that there should be enough room to pull the engine with the converter attached.
If you drop the tranny crossmember there's no reason you shouldn't be able to pull both at the same time. You'll just have to angle the engine up as you pull it out.
