Firing up the NEW LT1 on friday...

If all goes to plan I should be firing it up and breaking it in on friday. I could probably do it tomorrow and still might but I think I'd rather take a break over night and then go over everything again with fresh eyes.

The original '94 Lt1 that I swapped tossed a rod last year. I have since bought a 2000 C5 but came back and rebuilt the RS engine.

It is now a 95 LT1 in terms of wiring and parts. It is just a 355, but it is all forged internals, 4-bolt splayed, GTP stage 2 heads (280cfm @ .550"), and GTP6 cam (236/242 .568/.592 114). I've built it to be as durable as possible and with the intent of adding an ATI P-1sch next year. On the engine I will be putting 470 to the flywheel and right about 390 to the wheels. That's give or take about 7hp until I dyno it and know for sure.

Ought to be fun. The car is totally unassuming looking. I even had the tips off the Dynomax cut and bent to appear as the stock pieces. Sleeper aspect is in full effect. Except for the 3000 stall nothing else will be giving it away.

I don't usually come back to Thirdgen these days, but I thought I'd post this update for those that might still remember me over here.

Wish me luck! I doubt this one will grenade like the previous one when the oil pump was blocked.

Brett

What are "all" of the pitfalls of this swap? Will the driveshaft bolt in,or does it need to be modified? Did you guys use the LT1 trans or your 700R4? Which companies (Painless or ?)wire harness works best.Or is it worth while to try and make the factory one work. And any other problems I may have forgot to mention???? Thanks....

pete, I used a 4th gen 93 tranny 4l60(not 4l60e) also made my own wiring harness with the old one, hmmm driveshaft fits perfectly. the major thing was to remove the rear-end to drop the fuel tank and change the pump. everything was just fitting perfectly

the rear-end would fit , I think but I'm not sure that it's 2 inch longer. this rear-end swap is really possible and some people have done it.
