400tpi swapout
I have a sbc400 to put in my 87 IROC.it has a 350tpi/350 turbo tranny.what parts can i reuse to save a few bux?can i use the flywheel,starter,balancer,etc...from the 350?also,which is the best head between the 350 centerbolt and the 305HO?thanx for all replies!!

You cannot use flywheel or balancer and probably not starter.
Absolutely, possitively do not use the 305 heads on a 400! The puny valves & ports will choke the poor thing, and the small chambers will make the compression sky-high without mongo dished pistons. Even the 350 heads will make high compression, but that can be done - use thick head gaskets. Don't forget to drill the steam holes in the heads.
The TPI should be ported at a minimum. Shorter, fatter runners would also help, along with a larger TB.

Idles smooth @ 600 RPM in D. Best 15.02/95.06 @ 5800' Bandimere (corrected 13.93/102.4 @ sea level).
