ZZ4 block, good block for stroking?
Hey all. I am trying to find a good 4 bolt base block to stoke to 383, which will one day be supercharged at around 10 PSI. I am hoping to push high 10's on 92 octane with the package, with a EFI setup + blower.
Now, the block will not be used with a supercharger right off, it will be added on a few years after the block is all setup. I just want to know if there would be a way for me to build up a good strong 4 bolt block, with a good stroker kit (suggestions?) which will be strong for my application, as a street/strip car.
Should i have the engine built up with the supercharger in mind? Will the engine not run very well without the blower on it? (minus camshaft, I would use a diffrent cam for the NA initinal build up)
Thanks for any suggestions everyone! I have been trying to decide if the motown block would be worth the extra money, or if a bare ZZ4 block would be stong enough.
Thanks!

High 10's off of pump gas. Unlikely, and even more unlikely with only 10 PSI boost, even on a stroker. As far as the block's are concerned. I think the ZZ4 block is stout enough. In a recent Car Craft magazine article, they built one up with over 520 HP, on pump gas, and the block handled it great. They have the same pistons as an LT1. Maybe 10's isn't so out of reach, assuming you go exotic on the heads, etc. But good luck on it being streetable... Hope you have an excellent rear end and tranny! Have fun.

You aren't going to have anything special by spending the bucks on a ZZ4 short block that you couldn't get in any 4-bolt main roller 350 block. The things that make the ZZ4 distinctive (pistons, crank, cam, maybe even rods) you're going to throw away when you put in the stroker kit.
Might as well spend the money on a Motown block. You can get it already stroked (up to 434), and it was designed with a stroker in mind.
