Hooker 2055 Interchangeable?

Hey guys, I need to replace my exhaust, including my my manifolds. I like the Hooker 2055 headers, but am looking to swap my TPI 305 to an LT1 in the near future. I've looked all over but haven't been able to find the info i'm looking for. Will these headers match up to the ports on an LT1 engine? Does the LT1 use the A.I.R. emissions connections? Thanks a bunch for the help.

i think it will work for lt1 engines.. but dont take my word for it. and as for the A.I.R. you can just plug the holes because the LT1 doesnt use them.

Re: Hooker 2055 Interchangeable?

Well, i'd like it to not look so sloppy under the hood, I don't really want to have to plug up the A.I.R. system like that. If I don't need them I don't want them, i'm just not sure if my car would pass emissions without them being hooked up in Pennsylvania. Maybe someone could shed some light on that? Probably the wrong board to ask that question though. If i'm not limited by emissions, then I would go with the Hooker 2460 headers, but i'm not sure about finding a Y-pipe for them that has 3" outlet and would fit both the TPI and an LT1. Any ideas?

LT1's have d-shaped exhaust ports (D-ports). But that's not a big deal, tehy'll bolt up. They'll affect your flow a little, but I dont think it'd be worth it to spend a ton of money on a new exhaust system unless you just want to upgrade anyway.

1 5/8" primaries will cover the LT1 D-ports. Use whatever exhaust system was on your TPI. It wont move

I don't know about PA specifically, but in order to be emissions legal, you have to have all of the LT1 emissions equipment hooked up and operating.

The 2055 A.I.R. fittings point the opposite way as the LT1 fittings. Not too big of a deal, just need to reroute the hoses.

no they wont, I have probably had almost every set of headers that a third gen can have and i have had 2 sets of round port headers and neither cover the d shaped ports correctly. The heddmans actually leaked too. If you want a round port header to completely cover the d port it must be 1 3/4.

Not saying you're wrong but theres a LT1 swapped car with 1 5/8" headers in my driveway

No exhaust leaks

Its been the general rule of thumb for a long time with swappers

Yea, its absolutely possible to be done. However, unless they are d port they dont match up correct.
