i want a bigger engine

So I have this 82 z28, and i guess all third gen camaros come with a 305 as the biggest sock engine? well i like the 305, sure beats the hell out of my old peice of **** Ford Escorts 1.9L **** block. (this is my first nice car by the way) (cant say its a muscle car because i was reading that the stock 305 is about 150 bhp. if any of this is wrong, please tell me, im new to all this stuff.) right, as i was saying, i do want to eventually turn this thing into a super car but i will need a new engine for that, so how big of an engine can you put in a 3rd gen camaro?
thanks for any help.

No your just about right 150ish Hp but your Z28 could be an HO 175/180hp. 305 was the biggest they put in 3rd gens until later 80's . But back then the 350 CF in a vett put out 195hp. You should probably go with a 350. 350 's are good engines to build on and it will give you instant gradification. As for how big of an engine you "COULD" put in there, you could put a BB with aot of work.

well ive been looking around the net for stuff to do to the engine, or replace it, but it seems that people dont want to name prices over the internet for bigger engines, so i was wondering about how much a 350 might cost, and eventually when i have a million dollars or so, i am going to put a 454 or 502 big block in if i can. this is all wishfull thinking but i cant seem to squash my dreams yet by finding a price for any of this stuff. I was also looking at a page that talked about how they modified a stock 305 to get 325 bhp. not bad for a 305, but i just dont know if i want to do that when im eventually going to put a larger engine in anyway. also i know this isnt the Exhaust page, but can anyone recomend a good exhaust system, and how much it might cost to install? I have been looking at Dynomax, and Flowmaster, and read that Dynomax is better for about a third of the price. However, I cant seem to find a price for the exhaust system, or how much it would cost to install.
any help would be appreciated,
thanks again,
drew

Hilljack, Ive gotten prices here around Detroit for a 305 to 350 (TPI) swap and its around $ 2000 for a shop to do it.

And In my opinion I like Borla exhaust but price Im not sure but if you check in on the exhaust page they have group purchases going on from time to time with different companies.
