396 Stroker Or LS1 Swap ?

Waz Up Fellaz ? With fall and winter coming up soon it's time to park the T/A and turn a few wrenches.I want to either stroke the L98 to 396 cubes or do an LS1 swap. Please let me know the pros and cons to each of these setups..........thanks

How did you come up with this #? To my knowledge you can't get a 350 up to 396 CID. Even using a 3.75 stroke crank and +.060 bore you only come up with 388.

I don't know if anyone has done an LS1 swap yet, but it will be a pain in the a$$!! The LS1 needs different motor mounts and many other things that I can't think of at the moment.
You get a 396 by adding a 3.85" stoker crank and boring it .030" over. This is what I'm going to use in my Formula when I get the money. The only reason I'm choosing a 396 over a 383 is that I want to be different and since I will be using a SC or a turbo, it doesn't cost much more than an all forged 383. If you are just gonna run N/A I would recommend going with a 383.

383 or 400 to come!

You learn something new everyday. I didn't know a SBC could handle a 3.85 strike.

Sorry, Street and Performance web site is www.hotrodlane.cc
Also, as long as you get the T 56 that came with the LS1, there's no problem with the hydraulic clutch.

Not what I hear from people I know personally who own them. I even witnessed a clutch smoke show on a 2 month old car.
