ok .. my engine 350 TBI in my 88' p/u is toast.. I was going to get it rebuilt and put some vortec heads and a new GM performance TBI manifold to fit the vortec heads.. I ended up talking to a guy at the dealership that has a 350 vortec from a '98 p/u with 14,000 kms on it.. he wants $1700 canadian for it.. it has the water pump intake and even the ecm for it.

can this be done?? will the 700r4 tranny bolt up to it? will the engine mounts be the same?? can I get a wiring harness for this? will the dash cluster/speedo still work? I know it's magnetic p/u on the tranny..

any advice would be apreaciated.. I think this would be my chance to get some major power out of it.. so long as it can be done..

If you jump over to the TBI board and do a name search on badbrd383 he swaped out a 305TBI for a long block vortec 350 out of a Yukon in a Camaro convertable. He used his stock TBI and chip. I was thinking along the same lines I just haven't found the right deal for a motor yet. I have a 95 k1500 350 5sp that needs more power!!! Go test drive a vortec truck, the time to do the swap will be worth it!!!
