emissions

i just bought a 91 rs with a 305 tbi. i dont know anything about emissions but i live in kentucky and was wondering if i had to worry about it. cause if i dont im pulln the 305 and im gonna build a fuel injected zz4.

Check with your local DMV. It depends entirely on what county or city you are in, whether they smog test or not.

And if your area does smog tests, you need to find out if there is a visual inspection involved. That can be important, especially if you want to rip out your smog equipment.

KY emissions testing only applies to specific counties, mostly those near the larger cities. Yes, there is a visual as well as the sniffer.
If you fail, you have to spend at least $200, at an approved shop, on emissions related repair. You'll get a waiver if it still won't pass. Of course, you'll still have to do it again 2 yrs later, donot pass "go" until you spend another $200.

In some jurisdictions, with some inspectors, the proverbial "$20 handshake" may get you passed.
