i don't know what to do, it's my first time
Ok, my first chevy engine swap is a success, well sorta. After filling it with water and discovering a missing bolt in a waterjacket on back of the drivers side head, we spent a half hour cleaning up a mess of water and kitty litter. But anyway, We have the heating problem under control, and we have the timing set at 4 degrees. Here's the deal. It backfires out the intake, almost dies after you let off the gas, and is basically running like crap. Where should the timing be set during engine break in? Any tips to get it running a bit better? This is my first chevy, my first swap, and first EFI anything, and I stright have no clue what the hell is going on. -Nate
first when you first fired up the engine did you let it run at 2,500 RPM for 30 mins? also poping out of the carb can be a few things first 4 degrees is way too little, put it at 10-12 and that should make it run a hell of a lot better, put the timing up first then see if that fixes the problem
