383 swap for TPI

Hi guys. I just bought an '87 Iroc(305 TPI w/ 700R4) & have my 383 that i took out of my old '81 Z-28. Now i want to put this 383 in my 3rd Gen & use the factory TPI that came with it.
I KNOW NOTHING OF TPI practically!

I know i will need bigger injectors(30#) and will need to open up the intake, a 350 knock sensor & a custom prom or so. I need to know if i can use my cam....let me give you my motor specs

-383 stroker & maybe Vortec 64cc heads(comp 11.5:1) They are .100 dome pistons
-COMP xe284(240/246 DUR@.050..... .507/.510 LIFT, 110 LSA)

NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!

1)you'll need to modify your intake or buy the one from scoggin-dickey to fit the vortec heads.2)those heads even when ported will hinder that combo with those ski slope lobes you got on that cam.3)over 240* @.050 is gonna play hell with the ecm(having a maf is a double edged sword).i would go with either trick flows or afr's and a cam similar to slp's large cam(224/230-will be easier to tune the prom)and either a superram or a well ported accel/as&m setup.24lb.hr injectors can support 400hp no need for 30's

The stock TPI will choke your 383; if you want to build a stump-puller that tops off at 4000 RPM, you're OK, but if you're looking for more revs than that, you need a different induction system. Aftermarket runners and intake base, or something more radical will be required.

And Vortec heads can be ported to make a LOT of power. A local friend of mine had a pair on a 406 2nd gen. NA in the 12s, sprayed in the 11s. He's now running dart heads and is even faster, but the ported Vortec heads made a very fast car for him.

I ran the stock tpi on my 383 with the stock chip and it ran 13.50's. Get a chip burned for that cam and run the stock tpi until you can afford something bigger or port the stock stuff. It will run out of breath around 4300 rpm.
