How does doing this swap effect insurance rates and emissions regulations in New York State? Do our rates go up? Does the car have to meet v6 or v8 emission standards?

 

i'm from ny. your insurance prices will stay the same just as long as you don't have collision on your car, because if you do they look over your whole car and they'll notice a v8 and also just don't tell them you have a v8. your vin # still says its a 6 and thats what they'll think. and as far as emissions goes, theres no emisions tests in ny. you may need all the v8 emissions stuff on your car to pass an inspection though.

 

Though if you DO get in an accident and they find a different engine then reported, guess who DOESN'T have to pay for your damages....? Indeed, a bad secret to keep, IMHO......

 

Yeah, you need to tell the insurance company everything you do. If you put a 502 in your car and they don't know about it and you hit a Rolls Royce or some really expensive car. They can deny your claim. You know never know what'll happen so just tell them. Pay more, it'll be worth it. Trust me.

so let me get this stright new york doesnt have emissions? what does that mean, cause im doing the same swap. Does this mean i dont need the smog pump or anything else to get it to pass?

 

As far as I know NY has emmissions.

Only certain parts of NY has emissons, only the part thats consdered metro ny which is the city and long island
