any problems converting to an LT1 from TPI?
well as it looks right now I got about a grand to drop into my car and just a little more as time goes on. I have an '86 IROC with a 4thgen rear and suspension mods, fresh interior like it makes a difference and the engine bay is clean and ready for a motor. The plan was to go with a T-56 and a 350 or 383 TPI with aluminum heads. Since the motor is still far from completion and it's been down for a year I have to speed things up...and considering it's a T-top car I figured I might wait and get a hardtop if I want to build a 383 throughly and do it right.
I have a few mods, ZZ9 cam, SLP 1 3/4" headers, borla catback, highflow Walbro fuel pump, Megashifter, MSD 6AL and I just stumbled upon a complete drivetrain from a '95 (I think) Z for $800 complete. So I need to make a quick decision if I want to buy it or not to put into my '86. If I do I plan on head porting and engine inspection, yada-yada-yada with the ZZ9. Any things I should consider before spending the money? I know they drop in but I'm worried about overcoming VATS and things like that. I did plan on using a 4thgen dash and all in the future and the wiring is there for ABS brakes but I haven't played with it much lately. Trans is a 4L60-E Just looking for advice from those who have been there, this could get me running soon! If I get it I'll be trying to squeeze 400 HP from it. Thanks to everyone!
