got my 350!!!
woo hoo!!!! I just picked up my 350 yesterday. I got it at Jim Pace Warehouse for a measly $1200. Its got a 3 year/50000 mile warranty. I dont think you can beat it for the price. Its brand spankin new!! woo hoo! Sorry if i seem so excited but ive never owned a 350 before. Now all i have to do is get a mild cam and an intake. Ill post pics and ET's of the "maro" after i get it all put together. WOO HOO!

How much horsepower is it supposed to have, and how much torque? Is it shiny and stuff?

Its a bone stock motor. No shiny chrome parts yet. It came with the heads, oil pan, everything except the water pump, harmonic dampener, and intake manifold. I think the stock horsepower of a 350 is somewhere around 260hp and like somewhere around 300ft/lbs of torque. My numbers might be a little off though. But thats the most expensive part. Once you get the 350, even stock, its easy to make it run ALOT better. $300 for a cam & intake. the difference between the stock motor and a motor with just a aftermarket cam and intake is like night and day. If your thinking about getting a bigger motor, Im telling you that the 350 (gm# 10067353) is the way to go. its cheap, and you can still build alot of horsepower. Besides, the shiny stuff can wait.

what heads came with the motor? combustion chamber size? piston type? valves?
if you think a camshaft change is night and day wait until you slap a set of heads onto a motor. your talking a difference between summer and winter

I got that same 350 engine for my 79 z28 and a buddy of mine put one in his 87 iroc. It is rated at 249hp. If you are upgrading from a 305 I think you will be happy with it. The thing I like about it is the price. It leaves money left to add a good set of heads and a cam. We put some trick flow heads and a crane cam in his and I can tell you it made really good power. Mine was left stock and it was still pretty good but nowhere near his. The compression ratio on those is only 8.5:1 and ive been told that the heads arent very good. It is a nice upgrade and a good place to start though. Enjoy you 350.

I just found a line to the SDPC site with the info on your engine. I thought you might want to look at it since its one of the few places that give you info on it.

Did you guys see the specs on that engine ? Just how in hell is that engine putting out 260 HP ?? 0.390” / 0.410 lift ? 195° / 202 duration ? That sounds like a 150 HP combination to me. That with 72cc chambers and low 8.5:1 compression sounds like a pretty slow 350.
