hey guys, i got my hands on a 72 350 crate motor, it was in a truck. it has 75cc heads with 1.94/1.50 valves. i am gonna bore the block .030 over making a 355. i am puttin my stock TPI and 19lb injectors back on the new 355. for now i plan on using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to get my 19lb injectors to feed it. eventually when i get money i will upgrade the intake components. right now i am lookin at runnin a 9.75:1 comp ratio, and a 214/224 .442/.465 cam, and a stock 350 computer chip. can i reuse my balancer of my 305? i have to get another knock sensor too dont i? what do u guys think of this combo?

If that engine was intended for a truck from the factory, I'd double-check the intake valve size. They often were smaller.

Either way, the chamber size would be 76cc, and the heads terrible for performance. You'd be much better off getting some aftermarket heads like World S/R Torquers or Sportsman II's. You can get them with larger valves, smaller chamber, and much, much better flowing ports than any GM truck SBC head.

Use a 350 balancer, they're different from 305's. A 350 knock sensor and module is the typical recommendation, although there are guys who say they are using their 305 parts without problems.

Port your plenum and intake, get shorter runners that will allow the induction to work with your cam.

well the casting # on the heads is 993. and i ran the # off the block too. when i put the two #s together, it showed it was simply a crate motor built from 71-77. i know there are 2 different 993 heads, one was for 350s and 307s and had a 1.74 intake valve, and the other had 1.94 1.50 valves. i have looked at the heads, and i am not sure, but i would almost swear they are 1.94 intake valves. the intake and exhaust valves almost completely fill up the combustion chamber. the block is a 4 bolt main too, but that may not mean much. it was out of a truck, and when i checked the number pad on the passenger side block surface, there are no numbers there, so i am sure it is a crate motor becuase it has no vin number stamped on it. i sure hope these heads arent as bad as u say they are. let me know what u think

i just found more info. if indeed my heads are the 1.94/1.50 valved ones, they flow 150 cfm on the intake side and 91 on the exhaust side. again they are 3998993 castings. will they be good enough to make 260 horse and about 350 lbs ft. torque with my stock tpi intake and a 214/224 .442/.465 cam?

150 cfm or 150cc? My World heads are 170cc and flow about 220 cfm @ .050" unported.

Your fuel injectors are going to be
too small.The stock 350 TPI's use
22lb injectors.
