how did you hook up the trans shift cable??
this i the last thing keeping my from driving the car. and just cant seem to figure
it out.

you need the assembly that came with the 93 lt1, I don't have the part number but it's the bracket on the driver side of the intakeand it's easy to install.

I think that you mean the kickdown cable.
I am refering to the shifter cable. The stock 700r shifter cable seems to be about an inch and a half too short to fit into the detent in the front of the shifter base.

Ok, here's what I did. Bear in mind that mine is based on 94 equipment and a 91 car. But I used the linkage for my old 700r4 with the 4L60e. It went right on with the 4l60e with no hassle. You just have to adjust it back or forth so that the handle inside the car coincides with the desired gear.
