I have an 88 Trans Am all stock, i want to remove the smog sh*t including all the air tubes, hoses, pump, and the little black box with two wire connectors leading to it, i am thrown off and dont know what effect this will have and if it is computer controlled or not. someone plese help. email me or post here, thanks alot.

I have seen this done on an 86 IROC. All the smog crap was gone out of the engine bay. Plus the cat was removed. As far a he said it easy to do. Just have to pull smog pump and redo your pullies. With as effects of motor there was none with this car. Only thing he left on was the EGR. Because it had something to do with ECM control.

 

I've done it to my 87 IROC(305 TPI)and the only effects I noticed were a cleaner engine bay!I pulled EVERYTHING air related and gutted my cat.I tucked the plug in wires from the black box away,should we ever get emissions testing here again.and pulled the tubes from the exhaust manifolds out and plugged 'em.I've done an '89 as well and you'll need to re-route your serp belt if you have that set up(easy)....but no codes,or ill effects running wise:-)
