If I have a 350 shortblock what else do I need to swap out my 305?

If I have a 350 shortblock what else do I need to swap out my 305?

Well the old Lo3 has almost 170,000 on it and it's time for a new engine. I want to do this by saving as much as possible since I plan on getting another car this summer. If I have a complete 350 shortblock what can be used from the 305 and what else will i have to buy new? I know i'll need chip and injectors, but what i'm really concerned with is the engine and ignition parts. BTW the 350 shortblock is for 87 and newer cars also. Thanks for the help.

Swap everything from the 305 to the 350 except the harmonic damper (use a 350 piece). You should probably get heads made for a 350, though, as the 305 chambers are 58cc and 350's 64cc. The 305 heads on a 350 will increase compression more than you'd want for a street driver. Good time to upgrade to something like World Products S/R Torquers (get the '87-up style).

Some say get a 350 knock sensor and module, others say don't bother. Your chip will probably be okay if the cam isn't too wild in the 350.

An adjustable fuel pressure regulator will probably be all you need until your mods get more advanced.
