Is this a dumb idea?
This might be a little long, but i just need some advice. Also not even sure where this belongs, but mods can move it if they decide so.
Anyway my mom wrecked her car, but it is still worth about $5000. She really likes my car and i have a crazy idea that just might work so we can both be happy. She cant drive my car because it has about 500 horses and a t56 manual (cant drive stick). Im getting tired of my trans am and really interested in getting another truck. Im really interested in a 1996-1998 Silverado, 2wd, standard cab, short wheel base, stepside bed, stock manual tranny, and black paintjob with a 5.7 TBI engine.
I was thinking she could buy the truck i want for around $2500 after she sells the car. Then i could take the auto tranny and the stock tbi engien thats in the truck and swap it into my trans am. Then i could take my t56 and the 383 stroker and swap it into the silverado. I know its alot of work, but i REALLY want another truck. Would i run into any problems that im probably not thinking of? What do you think? Bad idea? haha thanks guys.

that's not a legal swap, but otherwise it's doable. You'll need the shifter from a Ram SRT/10, because it was the only pickup truck ever to use the T56. depending on your chosen tire size for it, the pickup may need a lot deeper rear gear, maybe even a 4.56:1.
You'll need to change the tailshaft housing on the pickup's 4L60E to take your Trans Am's torque arm. I'll assume you understand about the mounting, cooling, fueling, exhaust and electronics issues. If not, just ask. They're all very simple and straightforward.
You'll need to find an auto shifter for the Trans Am, and a clutch pedal/bracket/master for the truck.

Re: Is this a dumb idea?
So it will be illegal? I think my trans am is illegal as it is. Its got an engine from a newer year, carb conversion, no cats ect. Im still considering this, but then again, she could just buy a trans am and we could fix it up to be like mine.
