Some advice fast!!!

I am hoping I can get some quick responses because I may be able to pick up the car this week/weekend. I am looking at buying an '87 camaro with the 5.0 High Output 305 engine and auto tranny, not a bad combo but I would prefer the more powerful but not a complete gas guzzling 305 TPI engine and 5-speed tranny. My first car ever was a 1985 Iroc Z28 that I had to buy a 305 TPI and transmission for, together the cost was $500 from a junk yard almost 9 years ago, so not sure if prices have dropped or if the 5-speed would cost a lot more than the auto. My question is what would be my best option: buy the '87 for $1500 and swap in a 305 TPI and 5-speed or find another third gen camaro that already has what I want for around $5000? What is necessary for the full swap besides the engine and transmission? If it's going to cost me over a few thousand dollars for the complete swap I'd probably just find a camaro with the 5-speed already installed and save myself the trouble. Time for the swap isn't a concern because I don't really mind driving the car the way it is, just would want the bigger engine and manual tranny done eventually.

First, no such thing existed.

But, you should be able to swap in a 305 TPI & 5-speed for less than $3500 (assuming you're talking about used parts).

well if I'm lucky, by saying "high output" he was talking about the TPI, unless someone swapped in the 5.0 H.O. already.

Re: Some advice fast!!!

I would find the car you like with a 5speed first>>>there kind hard to find
converting to a 5 speed is going to cost alot more.. and you will need some one to program your eprom or you will need to buy a manual version... and find all the parts beside the 5speed
5G it better be perfect you can get 90 - 94 vettes for that price
