Starter only goes in one place - same place it was on the 305.

If it's an automatic, you need to know how many teeth are on the flywheel for the new 350 - did you use the same flywheel off the 305 or did the 350 come with it's own? Your 305 flywheel will be a 153 tooth flywheel, the 350 may have a 168 tooth flywheel. If the flywheel you are using has 168 teeth, you'll need a new starter.

If it's a 5 speed, then you'll HAVE to use the 153 tooth flywheel, the 168 tooth flywheel won't fit in the tranny housing. And since you already have it together, I'm assuming this wasn't an issue - so if your car is a 5 speed, then you should be able to reuse the 305 starter.

On the carb - was it carbed before? Or are you switching from a FI system to carb?

Nevermind - I see the pic now... are you using a mechanical fuel pump on the block, or an in-tank electric pump?
