One last check with the experts before I dive in. 350 or 383?
Hi everyone! I'm at the point where the next thing I do to my camaro is the engine swap. Before I dive in, I wanted one last discussion with the experts here.
Right now I'm in an 88 base camaro with an lo3 and a t5(soon to be a t56).
What I want is a daily driver that can get the hell up and smoke the pants off of ricers. I'm thinking maybe 400hp at the flywheel? I would like to stick with TBI but am not against a carb. I definitly don't want any forced induction or bottles. I'm gonna stick with a good old cowl induction system. Is it possible to be near 400hp with a tbi on a 350? Is a 383 too much for a daily driver?
I thank you all for any input I get!

TBI is definitely out of air well before 400 horses even with the usual mods. You need to sink big money into it for that.
If you look in the stickies under Atilla's Best Builds, you'll find lots of good options. Just read the first 7 posts.
I'll even ship you a pair of properly and professionally ported Vortec heads in exchange for your T5 if it isn't damaged.

that would be a trade i would definetly accept if i didnt need my tranny... lol
as for the question. "theres no replacement for displacement"
especially if your not planing on using power adders. carb would be the cheaper and easier way to go imo.

I'll sell you a TBI 355 that made 398 at the crank for $1800. Complete including everything on the belt assembly.

If you are machining a 350 block anyway go 383. The difference in price is minimal.
