396 bbc in 89 iroc questions

hey guys just have a couple questions b4 i do my swap just to give myself and idea of what i need for extra work is going to be needed i read the whole swap threads but just want extra comfrot b4 the swap is done

q1 wondering if there is room for tall vavle covers with an a/c heater box or sould be converted to a non a/c unit?

q2 would there be room for the radiator in stock location for a long style water pump and my car came factory with the dual fans?

q3 is there room with the tall valve covers for the wiper motor? (since this is a street car and the area i live in they are mandatory to work)

thanks for your time and info - mike

Re: 396 bbc in 89 iroc questions

You can solve 2/3 of those problems by tossing the tall valve covers and whatever is under them that isn't stock height. You really don't need a stud girdle until you're over 800 horses or over 6500 rpm.
i do know the '91-'95 aluminum valve covers will clear the a/c box and the wiper motor if using Moroso solid motor mounts and frame pads.

Just use ARP 7/16" studs.

Re: 396 bbc in 89 iroc questions

In the thread
92 RS 454 swap,
The Devastator is using a long water pump.

Posts 12 & 13 discuss briefly the pump. Post 19 has a pic with aftermarket pullies.

I don't recall what pump booboosean used.

Good luck & keep us updated!!
