92 RS Swap?
I recently purchased a 92 Camaro Rs 305 Tbi. Im not to keen on the options with the camaros or the most efficent swaps theyre are. And if and when I swap what should i replace the junk tbi with? Im just looking for a little general knowledge.

Do you have to go through any type of emissions testing or inspection? (Technically, in the U.S., that's irrelevant, as any swap technically has to meet emissions requirements for '92 or later passenger car.)
How would you rank these:
Performance
Economy
Driveability
Budget
Ease of swap

Re: 92 RS Swap?
Im gonna piggy back this thread because I have an identical situation...i just bought a 89 RS with a rod knocking 305. I would like to know what is the best/easiest/cost effective swap....not worried about emissions

Re: 92 RS Swap?
I'd have to save Im looking for a fun street car. Maybe a high 12 second f body would suite me fine. I came from the mustang realm so Im familiar with all the parts and engines that are interchangable through ford but im new to the chevy game. So basically im just trying to get some general overall knowledge of what engines from what chevy vehicles would swap in the rs easily and be more set forward for street perfomance.

There are several routes. A common one is a cam'd 350 with carb, higher stall converter, and higher numerical ratio rear end gears. A 383 (350 with a 3.75" stroke crank instead of the stock 3.48" stroke) will get there easier with a less-wild engine.
Slightly more expensive, and a bit more work, is an LS1 swap. It'll make more power per cubic inch, more power per pound, responds great to modifications such as cam & heads upgrades, and will remain a kitten on the street when you want it to. A '98-'02 Camaro/Firebird LS1/4L60E drop out with exhaust upgrades (headers, good flowing cat-back & muffler), intake upgrade (only required for '98-'00), and air intake changes (almost a given when swapping into a 3rd gen), with higher stall converter and 3.42 or 3.73 gears with sticky tires will be in the 12's and get 20+mpg in "normal" driving. Cam & heads with the above, you're in the low-12's/high-11's.

Re: 92 RS Swap?
the ls1 swap would be the route I would go. Is that a basic drop in kinda thing just replacing the harness and ecu. My rs is a 5-speed as well not sure if id have to chunk that to do the ls1 swap or not. Mind telling me what all is needed (parts list) that i could start aquiring for this swap?

Read the LS1 swap sticky first. If you still have questions about specifics, go ahead and ask.
