5.3 LM7 vs 383 stroker motor
I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to do engine wise for my car and I'm looking for some opinions. My grandfather has offered me an extra 5.3 LM7 that he has. Right now, all that is known about it, is that it needs an oil pump, and I believe the crank needs to be checked. I would like to stick to full injection on either engine I finally decide to choose. So far I have been leaning more towards the 5.3 LM7 only because I want to be able to say I built my engine from the ground up. Both my girlfriends father and my grandfather said it's probably a better idea to just buy a 383 stroker motor that is already built since I will be able to get the same numbers as a built LM7 could at the track, for cheaper and less work. I'm looking to run low 11's high 10's when it's all said and done. Any input would be appreciated.

The only way the LM7 would get you there is turbocharged. That's not entry level stuff, and neither is fully disassembling an LM7, then trying to build it.
To hit your goal, either way, is going to take an investment approaching $10,000. For that money, you could buy a used bullet bike that'll run 10s, and still have money left over to make your car a little better than stock.

The plan was to actually turbo charge the lm7. I'm not just building it all at once and planning to drop it in and run 10's. I want this over time. And if I wanted a street bike that ran 10's I would not of bought a car.
