Re: L48 Engine
It is the lowest HP 350 there ever was. It's 180 or 185 HP.
Don't get stars in your eyes from the "V" word. It's SUCKER BAIT.
That wouldn't be legal to run in your car in CA. Since the valve covers are the early style, I even doubt you could fool the inspection station.
Pass. Keep looking... for things that DON'T have the "V" word attached to them to draw the uninformed suckers like moths to a flame, and jack up the price for the same garbage that came in any other car of the same year.

Re: L48 Engine
i had bought one of those from a friend and decided not to run it. very low power and not worth the time to swap. you'd be better off looking for something newer (vortec maybe?)

Re: L48 Engine
as others said, waste of time and money. It's not really even worth it as an upgrade platform, because the only part that's worth a damn is the block.
For the same money, you should have no problems finding an iron-headed L98, or better yet (if you're going to run carb), a 96+ 350 with the vortec heads.
However, if you need to meet nazifornia emissions, then your life is already much more difficult. Time to think LT1, or if the budget allows, LS1.
