How to clean heads!

So im about to put my vortec heads back on and i want them to give them a good cleaning but i dont got money to take them to the shop so my question is can i just scrub them with like water or gas to clean them up like the inside of the heads and stuff any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

brake cleaner works good i believe, and some scotch bright... I definately wouldn't use water. It will take some time to get good. A hot tank bath and safety clean machine is ideal.

so i should just spray it with brake cleaner and let it sit...can i use gas?

If they are assembled, you should avoid solvents that could damage the valve stem seals.

I just took a pair to the self-service car wash and used their wand. Came out pretty decent - although I was mostly trying to wash the oil off them, some of the carbon came off the chambers as well (I didn't concentrate on the chambers).

and a good drill cleaned the chambers/valves up nice on my old L98 heads. Works on the outside also.

cool they dont look bad but just wanna get them clean. Theres no build up or anything.
