305 tbi to 383 carb

Hi, I have a 89 camaro with a 305 tbi. I was wondering if it would be easier to put a 383 carb or go back in with a 5.7 tbi.

Well the 350TBI would be easier, but I think the 383 would be a little more fun. The only issues you would run into with the carbureted setup are some electrical components blocking power to the fuel pump and your distributor power. I can't think of what they are off the top of my head, but if I remember correctly, the TBI injector wiring was one of them. Its not too hard to locate wiring diagrams though and bypass or eliminate the things standing in your way. Or you could just run switches to your distributor power and fuel pump Although if you went that route, I think you would have a non working fuel gauge. Also, with your car being factory throttle body injected, there would be no need for any fuel delivery alterations, as those fuel pumps wear out and end up pushing about 7psi, which is perfect for most carburetors.

Swapping either is the same - there are issues to address with any swap, none are 'easier' than any other. Swap in what you have money for, what you can legally get away with, and what you want.
