L05 build suggestions please

im can get a a fairly new gm goodwrench l05 off a friend for 200 bucks and i looking to get like a little over 300 at the wheels anyone have a list to achieve my goal i been reading a lot of bulids some say use vortec heads some say don't blah bah im getting the run around the engine is a two bolt main so im gunna get splayed main caps to make a 4 bolt and i want to have good low end and high end i don't wanna run out of breath at so early and can i use carb with the vortices or no

Forget the splayed main caps. 300 HP is a cake walk for 2-bolt mains. Spend the money where it will make a difference.
