Re: LT-5

Those engines are not cheap the price for replacement parts for that engine will blow your mind its a tight fit in a corvette and they have no fenders.

It would be pretty cool if you could fit it in the camaro plan on doing some major wiring changes along with the lt5 ECM and the complete smog equipment from the lt5.

After you get it running you will have to go to a CA smog referee to have it inspected and get a sticker so you can smog it.

You will need the tyranny too so you would want the hole car so say you got it for 5 thousand that would be a really good deal for you.

If you do get it ill purchase the rear end from you for my Corvette.

Re: LT-5

Like 92RS mentioned, those motors are NOT cheap. They are worth a small fortune. Additionally, parts are difficult to come by (and very expensive), and as he also mentioned, it would not likely be an easy swap. Plus, though 400 hp is certainly impressive, those motors were high rpm winders that offered little low end torque. Even if I had access to one cheaply, I'd go in another direction, most likely LS-based.

Your money can be far better spent elsewhere.

Re: LT-5

The rare engine Ive seen on ebay went for $10-15k. With tranny and all the other small parts probably will jack the price up significantly

Re: LT-5

More pics of the GM car, took a lot of cutting. note the crossmember? Also you'll need to fo something to fit the slave cyl. Looks like it's in the stock location here, which means there's some clearancing done to the floor

Re: LT-5

If the engine isnt hit, it's still worth a good bit. Cutting the chassis off the drivetrain is nothing out of the ordinary for wrecks

3500 is way high for a stock LS1/A4 dropout. It better have a long list of expensive mods for that price. Read the sticky on difficulty, time, and cost

Re: LT-5

with 20K miles? thats not a horrible price... i see 6spd LS1 drop outs go for 4000-4500 with more miles than that

Re: LT-5

You can buy a whole car for $4500-5000. Dont go buy the ebay yard prices. Surf 'tech and youll find them for $3000 or less with a T56. Less for autos

Re: LT-5

Just what my local shop sells them for and they sell a BUNCH of drop outs. I did buy a salvage title LS1 TA from them for 5500 with 81K on it...auto/ls1/2.73 gear car. Motors/trans is what is worth 90% of the money. Shells not so much.
