Alright, i have been looking a new motor for about a month. and 383 is looking preaty good to me. i have been looking on ebay for motors and stumbled on this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...Q5fAccessories
how much would go into this swap, is it just a case of puttin most of the parts from my 305, a slap it in or would i need to do a whole lot more??? thanks for your time

1. You don't need the intake manifold. Don't pay for something you don't need.

2. What heads? Doesn't say. Don't buy any engine unless you know what heads are on it.

This is most likely a rebuild mill. Rather than bidding on something they list, call them up (they list a toll-free #) and tell them you want a 383 TPI engine. Just get the long block, make sure it has 083 heads. Don't have them put any TPI parts on it, because: a) you will be getting what you need, not what they're selling; and b) you are not going to use any of your own 305 TPI parts on a 383.
