engine applications
engine applications
I am going to start out by saying i am some what new to cars so just try to help me out. I have an 86 z28 and wanted to swap out the 305 for a 350 and i wanted to go with a new crate motor. The thing is i can only seem to find 85' and earlier crate engines, and as far as i know the only difference is that 85' earlier engines are 2 piece rear main seal and 86 is one piece. so what i want to know is if the 85 2 piece will bolt up correctly, if not can i, and what do i need so i can bolt it up? or point me in the direction of a 1 piece rear main seal 350 that will work

Re: engine applications
A 1 piece rear main engine can easily be swapped over to 2 piece rear main engine or the other way around. The proper flywheel/flexplate just needs to be used.

Re: engine applications
Can you budget for a Ramjet 350 crate engine, its usually around 5 grand? It still looks to be the easiest drop in crate motor. It needs 12 volts and 45 psi fuel pressure. Your car has both if its a 305 TPI right now. it also has a 1 piece rear main seal so you can keep your Flexplate..little things add up when building something yourself so do some budgeting. The Ramjet could add value to the car also compared to a basic carbon 350 and it also comes with a warranty usually.
Goodluck!!
