Is there a difference???

As dumb as a question it may be to you all I still have to ask. Is there a difference between a Camaro 350 tpi and a GTA tpi 350? I'm asking because I bought a used one and am going to replace my old worn out 305 to this tpi 350 that came out of a 91 GTA. Also, could I use my stage II chip in this computer. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Is there a difference???

Its a L98 in both cars man. To the best of my knowledge the only L98 that is different is in the Corvette, and thats just the heads i believe.

Your going to need a tune to get it just right, check on the ECM section of the boards. Check your ECM to see which one your running and give that info up on the boards to the guys there.

Good luck!

Re: Is there a difference???

In stock form, it's all the same - Pontiac hasn't made their own motors since the 1970's, so it's all SBC and all the same components between Camaro and Firebird.

Your "stage 2" chip - it might not work. It is a chip for a 305, a 350 gets different knock sensor readings and uses a different knock sensor.

BUT - here's a theory that would have to be confirmed bt someone much more knowledgeable than me...

When folks swap from a 305TBI to a 350TBI, they can keep their ECM and replace the knock sensor with a 350 sensor. So, I wonder if you can keep your 305 ECM and use the 305 knock sensor in the 350?

I assume the 350 TPI uses different injectors as well - may or may not be a problem I don't know. But the basic TPI programming should be close to the same. These ECM and chip questions should be posted on the DFI & ECM section - I'm sure someone there can help you with this.

Good Luck!
