Sbc 350 combo help

First timer here...so take it easy on me. Well I have an 88 iroc with a cracked block. So I bought another 350 from a 79 z28 with 68 thousand miles on it bone stock...so here's what I have to put on it.
650 q-jet
Edelebrock performer intake (high rise)
291 double humps...stock but redone by machine shop
Comp cam 284 advertised duration 481 lift
Posi-4:11 I was told....
700r4 auto tranny.
So will this be a good combo? How much hp could I expect?
Anything else I should do different besides what everyone wants
To say....(change those heads)lol.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Sbc 350 combo help

You already have the heads you might as well use them. You can turn mid to low 13's on them.

Roller rockets? 160 degree thermostat?

I think I would run a thick head gasket to get it as close to 10:1 as possible.

Re: Sbc 350 combo help

You realize that shorty was a low compression engine..how are you figuring 10.5:1?

Need to find what piston it has/came with then go from there to help figure what you got first.

Probably .020 or .025 down in the hole easy for starters
If theres a dish need to know the cc on that go from there.
If you take the time and do this right even a mild motor can run real hard...or can sound the part but be a real pig, btdt too many times.

Re: Sbc 350 combo help

I got everything from a machine shop...even the motor. I'm just going by the numbers he gave me. He has a bunch of cars built and being built... Seems like he knows what he's doing...I hope!

Compression = POWER !
Heads can flow as much as you like;
but if compression is LOW ; then power will be down compared to same engine with more compression

Re: Sbc 350 combo help

I was wrong... The heads are 63cc. I got some flat top pistons now also!

Re: Sbc 350 combo help

Find out the brand and part number then we can find what cc the dish is then its easier to help figure your compression. CC of head by itself doesnt tell the whole story.

Hard to get the CR up with a FT piston on a sbc without a thin head gasket and smaller CC chamber.

Re: Sbc 350 combo help

Brand of piston? It's (trw) I don't have them in front of me right now so I don't no the part numb... but it's stock bore...if that means anything? The heads are camel hump 291's 63cc...if that's what your asking. And yes I want a thinner gasket.
Thankyou for your help!
